Philoxenia Green, a Secret Greek Escape house overlooking the Aegean Sea in
the authentically Greek village of Plomari on the island of Lesvos.
Set
in ancient terraced olive groves and fronted by grape vines, orange,
pomegranate, walnut and fig trees, this traditional farm house retains the
simplicity and atmosphere of years gone by but with a fresh contemporary
twist.

The House
Retreat from the steaming heat of the beach to the peaceful stone farmhouse set in the cool shade of the river valley.
The main bedroom takes up the entire ground floor where animals, farm implements and giant terracotta olive oil vats were kept. Now a cool, white space with a king size bed and open shower with a view up the valley, this is a haven of peace and tranquility.
The small second bedroom with wonderful views of mountains, olive and cypresses trees, has a double bed with small bathroom ensuite. Large glass windows frame the view, while louvred shutters protect the space from the summer sun.
Upstairs is the open and airy living, dining, kitchen area, kept cool in summer by the walls nearly a meter thick and warmed in winter by the wood burning fireplace.
Enjoy long lunches under the shade of the olive trees - warm bread, crumbly feta, ripe red tomatoes, local wine or ouzo. Spend the heat of the afternoon lazing in a hammock, playing cards or backgammon, taking a siesta in the cool of the bedroom and then wander down to the village in the evening for sundowners, meze, dinner and live music.
Only a 10-minute walk from the main square and 15 minutes from the beach, Philoxenia Green is an oasis to escape to yet close enough to swim in the sea and experience the vibrancy of daily life in the authentically Greek village of Plomari.
