A large proportion of the island is unspoiled wilderness. Pine trees, oaks, planes, walnut and almond trees make a variegated, verdant green landscape. Rivers and streams burst from the rocky hills. Lesvos has one of the best network of marked hiking trails in Greece, encompassing the spectacular scenery, ancient paths and sites.
