Lesvos is blessed with beautiful unspoiled beaches, many close to Plomari. Just 3 km away Agios Isidoros was voted one of the top 7 beaches in Greece.
This Blue Flag beach with its long stretch of golden sand and clear blue sea is one of the prettiest and best on the island.
Amoudeli, a short 15 minute walk from Philoxenia villa, is a beautiful pebbly cove with excellent swimming and 2 picturesque tavernas. Melinda, 6km west of Plomari is a quaint and atmospheric hamlet with protected bay, pebbly beach, great swimming and excellent tavernas. Tarti, 20km east, is a sandy crescent shaped beach with rocky headlands on either side. Extremely well protected and spectacularly beautiful, spend the day swimming, lazing on a sunbed and have lunch in the superb taverna with the blue chairs.
The two gulfs on the south coast of Lesvos provide the prolific selection of reasonably priced fish for the island – clams, sardines, octopus, anchovies and more. The Gulf of Kalloni with it’s salt pans, is the bird watchers paradise of Lesvos where migrating birds stop for a while in springtime. Flamingoes and many other European birds are perennial.
The Gulf of Gera, 20 minutes form Plomari is stunningly beautiful. Follow the narrow road that winds along its shore and discover charming small beaches, wonderful traditional tavernas and pretty villages.
Molyvos in the north of island, is the most popular resort. This small medieval village with pretty stone houses, narrow cobbled roads and quaint harbor overlooked by the Crusaders castle is a must to visit.
